Good Samaritan welcomes families at their Open School Twilight event
Good Samaritan was very pleased to welcome families and the Fairy Meadow community to our Open School Twilight! The aim of the evening was to allow those wishing to enrol in Kindergarten 2023 to view our school in action.
Our Good Samaritan School Captains and Vice Captains acted as guides taking families around the school, pointing out particular points of interest and talking about how learning occurs at the school.
In addition to this, Year 5 students (pictured) volunteered to be hosts for the evening, participating in sporting activities, art, music and technology experiences.
The hospitality that our students extended to the visitors to our school reflects the thoughts of St Benedict known as the ‘rule’ of St Benedict. Benedict’s ancient rule about hospitality might be the most famous and influential part of his writing which shall inspire us all. It reads:
‘All guests who present themselves are to be welcomed as Christ.’
Pope Francis has also spoken about hospitality in one of his many homilies saying that hospitality is about learning to live differently that it is about turning from a path of only being focused on ourselves to taking a path of life, generosity and love.
Pope Francis tells us that hospitality is about adopting a mentality that welcomes, accepts and cares. This approach to living positively within a community is one that is consistently encouraged at Good Samaritan.
